Our Environmental Policy

At Dolan Hotels we recognise that our activities have an impact on the community that surrounds our hotels and on the environment of Jersey.

We are committed through continuous assessment of our operating procedures and taking measures, where possible, to reduce that impact.

Below is an outline of our Environmental and CSR Policy which is a continually evolving document.

Energy Saving

  • We are in the process of replacing light bulbs with energy efficient, most have already replaced.
  • We reduce towel washes by asking guests to re-use their towels if possible
  • Rain water is recycled at the Someville Hotel for watering the gardens.
  • Unnecessary lights and heating are switched off.

Recycling

  • We recycle paper and glass throughout all the properties and offices.
  • Old furniture is re sold or given to charity shops to sell on so that we reduce our contribution to landfill.
  • Office print cartridges are given to local Jersey charities to recycle so they can benefit.
  • Our waste oil is recycled for bio fuel.

Food Miles

  • 'Genuine Jersey' produce is used where possible to reduce air frieght emissions.
  • The Somerville Hotel uses 'Vivreau' water system in bedrooms and conference rooms. Bottles can be refilled to reduce the amount of mineral water needed to be flown or shipped in.

Transport Emissions

  • Cycle racks are available for staff and guest use.
  • Walking and Cycling holidays are promoted throughout the hotels and we can also arrange bike hire for guests.

CSR

  • We try and recruit locally and use local trades people where possible.
  • Staff are encouraged on training courses to help and progress their careers.
  • Support local and national charities with raffle prizes and sponsorship
